Presidency denies reports of presidential pardon

The Office of the President has dismissed reports circulating in the media claiming that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has granted a presidential pardon to certain individuals.

In an official statement issued on Monday, January 6, 2025, the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, clarified that no such action has been taken by the President.

“We wish to categorically state that these assertions are inaccurate, and no pardon has been granted by President Akufo-Addo,” the statement read.

The Presidency urged the public to disregard these claims and to rely solely on official communications from the Office of the President for accurate information.

This clarification follows a wave of speculation and media reports suggesting that pardons had been issued.

The Office emphasized its commitment to transparency and maintaining public trust by addressing any misinformation promptly.

The statement appealed to media outlets to verify information before publication to avoid the dissemination of false narratives.
