President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has terminated the appointments of 24 District Chief Executives (DCEs) across various districts.
The decision, announced through an official letter to the Minister for Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development and signed by the President, is in accordance with article 243 (3) (b) of the Constitution and section 20 (3) (b) of the Local Government Act, 2014 (Act 936).
The affected DCEs include Martina Appiah Nyantakyi of Ahafo Ano North, Nii Larteh Ollenu of Mansie West, Daniel Owuredu of Nkoranza South, Alhaji Abdulai Adams of Pru East, and Gmasombe Jerome Kofi Gyimah of Sene East, among others. The list also features Joseph Aidoo of Awutu Senya West, Samuel Kwame Agyekum of Asuogyaman, Seth Asante of Atiwa West and more.
The directive demanded Local Government Minister, Dan Botwe, to take immediate action to relieve the mentioned individuals of their duties.
The letter, however, did not specify the reasons behind the mass dismissal.
Meanwhile, the President has indicated plans to nominate replacements for the vacated positions under a separate communication.
