President Mahama vows to resolve energy crisis and prevent return of dumsor

President John Dramani Mahama has assured Ghanaians of his government’s unwavering commitment to resolving the country’s energy crisis and preventing a return to the era of “dumsor” (frequent power outages).

Speaking at the National Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission Ghana on Thursday, January 9, President Mahama acknowledged the critical issues confronting the nation, particularly in the energy sector, and pledged decisive action to address them.

“We are assuming office at a critical time in our nation’s history. Ghana is faced with significant challenges. But that is exactly the reason why you elected us.”

“We will transparently let you understand what those challenges are, and we will take responsibility for solving them,” he stated.

President Mahama stressed the immediate threat of power outages due to insufficient fuel supplies for power generation but urged citizens to remain hopeful and confident in his administration’s ability to find sustainable solutions.

“There is a threat of power outages, but my brothers and sisters, don’t despair. You elected us to solve the problems, not to put the blame on anybody else,” he emphasized.

The President revealed that on Wednesday, January 8, he convened a stakeholders’ meeting to explore innovative strategies for stabilizing the nation’s energy supply.

“I can assure you that some of the ideas they have come up with are promising. We will make sure that your lights stay on and that we do not have dumsor,” he declared.

President Mahama stressed the need for urgent and collaborative efforts to address the energy crisis, assuring Ghanaians that his administration is prepared to lead the charge in overcoming these challenges.

“The energy sector’s issues demand collective action, and we are ready to lead the way. Together, we will ensure a stable and reliable energy supply for all Ghanaians,” he stated.
