Prof Adei denies corruption allegations, opens Pandora’s box of more corruption

Professor Emeritus Stephen Adei, a former Board Chairman of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), has denied allegations of corruption made against him by a radio presenter named Kwabena Kwakye.

Prof. Adei is known for his vocal stance against corruption in government, regardless of which political party is in power.

He has held various public offices under all five presidents of the Fourth Republic, including appointments under the current government.

However, since leaving his position as GRA Board Chair, Kwabena Kwakye has repeatedly accused Prof. Adei of corruption.

This is likely due to Prof. Adei’s continued crusade against corruption by public officials.

Some of the allegations made against him include awarding a contract to his son, favoring a contractor who quoted $10 million over one who quoted $5 million, and receiving a four-wheel drive car from GRA as Board Chair.

In response to these allegations, Prof. Adei has issued a two-page statement describing each of them as “com

Indian company to collect our taxes

Even more striking in his two-page letter is a revelation that after he and his board had managed to ensure that local entities with the expertise got the contracts to work for Ghana, now the GRA, under a new board and with the support of the government, is considering an Indian company for domestic tax collection beginning 2025.

This is a complete Pandora’s box of a well-calculated corruption machine being put together by the government and its cohorts at GRA.
