November 8 not a public holiday – Interior Ministry

The Ministry of the Interior has announced that Friday, November 8, will not be a public holiday.

According to the Ministry, although the 2024 National Farmers’ Day will be observed on that date, it will not be designated a public holiday.

This was contained in a press statement signed and issued by the Minister for the Interior, Henry Quartey, on Tuesday, November 5.

The statement further clarified that Friday, December 6, 2024, which officially marks Farmers’ Day, will remain a statutory public holiday and will be observed nationwide.

This comes after the Ministry of Food and Agriculture announced that National Farmers’ Day will take place on Friday, November 8, 2024.

In a press statement issued by the Ministry, it said President Akufo-Addo confirmed the date for the 40th edition of the annual celebration.

The statement said that the national farmers’ event will be hosted in the Greater Accra Region and that there will be no regional-level celebrations this year.

However, the Ministry said each region is permitted to nominate winners for 10 regional award categories.

“These awardees are required to travel to Accra on Friday, 8th November 2024, where they will be honoured at the Awards Night Ceremony, taking place at 4:00 p.m. at the Alisa Hotel, North Ridge.

“At this ceremony, Regional Ministers will confer awards on the honourees from their respective regions,” part of the statement read.
