The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Ghana says none of the dry shampoo products, recalled by the United States Food and Drugs Administration due to the presence of benzene in them, is on the Ghanaian market.
According to the FDA Ghana the
brands as indicated have not been registered for use in the
country.
These are Dove, Nexxus, Suave, TIGI, and TRESemmé dry shampoos manufactured by Unilever, North America (United States).
Benzene is a known human carcinogen.
Humans are exposed to the chemical through inhalation, ingestion or through the skin, a statement signed by FDAs Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Delese Darko said.
