Speaker of Parliament’s despatch dies in accident

A dispatch rider leading the Speaker of Parliament’s advanced team on its way to Wa in the Upper West Region has died after the convoy was involved in a fatal accident.

The accident occurred when the dispatch rider was hit by a speeding vehicle from behind.

Reports indicate the accident occurred in the Ashanti Region at Juaso Junction when the Despatch Rider was clearing the way for the team at about 9:00am on Friday.

Incidentally, the Speaker was not travelling with the team at the time.

A release by Public Affairs expressed Parliament’s deepest condolences to the family.

Rt. Hon. Speaker Alban Bagbin who was at work at Parliament House in Accra, it said, is deeply saddened by the incident.
