Speaker recalls MPs for emergency sitting after Majority Leader’s petition

The Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has recalled Members of Parliament for an emergency sitting.

This follows a petition by the Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, urging the Speaker to bring the House back into session.

Afenyo-Markin in his petition on behalf of the Majority Caucus voiced their dissatisfaction with the Speaker’s decision to adjourn the House indefinitely on Tuesday, 30 July.

In response, a summons issued by Speaker Bagbin on Wednesday, 7 August, announced that Parliament would reconvene on September 3, 2024, at 10 a.m.
