SSNIT Director-General dismissal not a result of wrongdoing – Presidency

The Presidency has clarified that contrary to speculation, the dismissal of Dr. John Ofori-Tenkorang, the Director-General of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) was not a result of any misconduct or wrongdoing.

The Director of Communications at the Presidency, Euguene Arhin in a statement on Saturday, April 13 emphasized that the decision to remove Dr. Ofori-Tenkorang was made for reasons other than wrongdoing.

The clarification aims to dispel any misconceptions surrounding the abrupt change in leadership.

On Monday, April 8, President Akufo-Addo officially terminated Dr. Ofori Tenkorang’s tenure as the Director-General of SSNIT.

As part of the transition, Dr. Ofori-Tenkorang has been instructed to transfer his responsibilities to Kofi Bosompem Osafo-Maafo** by Monday, April 15.

While the reasons behind the dismissal remain undisclosed, the Presidency’s clarification seeks to provide clarity and uphold accountability.

Despite rumours suggesting that his dismissal was due to misconduct, the Presidency claims that Dr Ofori-Tenkorang’s departure is part of the ongoing restructuring initiated by President Akufo-Addo.

The Presidency further stated that President Akufo-Addo is pleased with Dr Ofori-Tenkorang’s performance, as the institution experienced significant transformation under his leadership.
