Okaikwei North CLOGSAG Mark May Day With Fun Games

The Civil And Local Government Staff Association Ghana, (CLOGSAG) of Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly defied Wednesday morning’s downpour to mark its maiden May Day celebration.

The staff celebrated the day with various indoor and outdoor games, among others tug of peace, lime and spoon race, sack race, fill the bottle among others.

The Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly beat Ablekuma Central Assembly in a penalty shoot out after a friendly match ended in a draw after full time.

Earlier in an address the Municipal Chief Executive Honourable Boye Laryea said the organization of the event is a sign of good relations.

He said “not only is this going to foster unity among Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly and Ablakwa Central but also it is going to give us the experiences, share ideas and good practices within the Local Government settings”.

Honourable Laryea stated that the gesture is also to show Ghanaians that as city authorities, they are mandated to bring the people in the various Municipalities together.

The Okaikwei North MCE noted that another importance of the fun games is for the staff to know each other and network.

The Municipal Coordinating Director of Ablekuma Central  Mr Yakubu Abdul-Rahman in a message said that work of staff of the Assemblies is demanding hence the need to take some day off to relax.

He noted that both Assemblies are opened to such friendly interactions to further strengthen the relationship between both Assemblies.

He singled out Honourable Laryea for praise over what he described as his affability and “down to earth” nature especially in the way he interacts with staff and management of the Assembly.

The event also saw the award of three retiring staff of the Assembly for their meritorious work and contribution to the country.

The May Day Celebration was on the theme: “the role of workers and social partners in securing peaceful elections for national development.”
