THE BLESSING OF FRUITFULNESS

Scripture Reading: Genesis 1:26-31

Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” (Genesis 1:28)

After God created the first man, He commanded him to be fruitful. In a sense, we can say that this is the first promise that God gave to humankind. The Lord created us to be fruitful people. Because He wants us to be fruitful, we shall be fruitful.

Usually, we limit God’s command of fruitfulness to having children. The command includes having children; but it is not limited to having children. There are many ways and areas in which we can be fruitful.

We can be fruitful with our minds, our hands, our words and our character. Our minds produce ideas, our hands manufacture products, our lips produce words and our character produces moral and ethical values. These are some of the areas that we can be fruitful in. We are equipped by God to bring things into being. When a person is fruitful, they are productive, and they make gains.

Everything around us is a manifestation of someone’s fruit. From the clothes you are wearing to the buildings you dwell and work in; all of them are fruits of someone’s thoughts or hands. It is God’s desire that we will be evidently fruitful, so that others can look at us and testify that we are productive. He has therefore prepared us to be fruitful in the following ways:

• The Lord has called us to fruitfulness. God requires all of us to be productive with our lives.

• The Lord has gifted us with seeds for fruitfulness. He gives each one of us the talents and abilities required to live a productive life.

• The Lord has anointed us with the power to be fruitful. He has given us the ability to overcome everything that seeks to make us fruitless.

We have all that it takes to be productive. Claim God’s promise of fruitfulness to you and step out to manifest it. May your life bring Him glory for His rich deposits in you.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, you are my Creator. Inspire me with creative ideas and concepts to do my work. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
