TRUST IN THE LORD

Scripture Reading: Psalm 62

Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah Psalm 62:8

Trusting the Lord is both a humbling and powerful concept. It is humbling because it reminds us that although we have great human capabilities, there are limits to our greatest strengths and effort. In this age of the celebration of unprecedented human achievements, it deflates our ego to accept defeat. So even when we realize we are incapable, we still force ourselves to heave against our struggles with all our strength.

The Lord wants us to trust Him as our shepherd. He wants us to have confidence in His word and in His presence. When He is with us, we must not have any fear, neither should we fret when He gives us a promise.

Trust in the Lord at all times. The Lord does not want us to trust Him one time and stop trusting Him at another time. He wants our trust to be constant. Issues of trust are related to the question of ‘who is boss’ over our lives. When we trust the Lord, we choose to make Him the boss of our lives. That choice will be tested by the intensity of our experiences. Will we stop trusting God when the battle gets tougher? Will we stop trusting God when the battle gets longer? We must trust the Lord at all times.

Pour your heart before Him. When we truly trust the Lord, we carry the burdens of our hearts to Him. That can be a challenge in this day and age of phenomenal advances in science and technology. It is alright to avail ourselves to the benefits of human discovery, but we must not see human discovery as the end of our hope. There are things that science cannot do but there is nothing that God cannot do. Let us learn to trust in the Lord with all of our hearts.

To do that, we have to:

• accept the limitations of our human efforts and understanding.

• acknowledge God’s infinite wisdom.

• ask the Lord to guide us in our decision-making.

• allow the peace of God to fill our hearts.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, you are my strength. Teach me to trust you even when I feel strong on my own. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
