UTAG slapped with GH¢3000 by court

The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has been slapped with GHS 3000 by a court for time wasting.

On Monday August 16 the court was supposed to hear an injunction brought against UTAG by the National Labour Commission (NLC) over their industrial action however, UTAG, according to reports, was unable to file its processes.

The Court slapped UTAG with the GHS3000 cost and further adjourned the case to Wednesday, August 19, 2021.

UTAG members are demanding the restoration of a 2012 Single Spine Salary Structure agreement that would see entry-level lecturers earn the cedi equivalent of $2,084 monthly.

The NLC on August 6 secure an interlocutory injunction from the court to compel UTAG to call off their strike which started on Monday, August 2, 2021.

But UTAG indicated that they are unwilling to return to work until the government meets their demand despite the court injunction secured by the National Labour Commission (NLC).
