Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Dr. James Klutse Avedzi, has rallied his constituents to vote for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, and the party’s parliamentary candidate, Eric Edem Agbana, in the upcoming December 7 general elections.
Dr. Avedzi, who has served five terms as MP, underscored the NDC’s track record of delivering development to the constituency, stressing that more progress would follow if the party is given another mandate.
Speaking at a rally in Ehi, a commercial hub within Ketu North, during the campaign tour of NDC leader John Mahama, Dr. Avedzi urged the electorate to support Mahama as President and Agbana as the new MP to replace him.
“Let’s not make any mistakes on December 7. We must rescue this country, and we can only do that by voting out the underperforming Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government and electing Mahama and Edem. We’ve done it before, and I believe we will stay on track,” he emphasized.
As the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament, Dr. James Avedzi further encouraged voters to choose candidates capable of improving their living standards. He also underscored the need for tolerance among supporters of different political parties to maintain peace during the elections.
Addressing the large crowd in Ehi as part of his four-day tour of the Volta Region, former President John Mahama praised Dr. Avedzi for his leadership and political maturity.
He urged party supporters in Ketu North to prioritize unity and reiterated his commitment to sustainable development in the region.
The NDC flagbearer commended the outgoing MP for his statesmanship in passing the baton to a younger generation, noting, “In politics, one of the things you need to know is that we are all actors. We come on the stage, play our part, and when we finish, we leave and other actors come to take our place.
“Not every actor knows when the time has come for him to leave. But I respect Hon. Avedzi greatly for recognizing the moment and handing it over to a young, enterprising, and hardworking individual like Edem Agbana. Hon. Avedzi’s decision is a testament to his high political sense of responsibility,” he added.
He also commended Edem Agbana, who is set to step into the shoes of Avedzi, acknowledging the significant challenge ahead, given Avedzi’s vast experience as a parliamentarian and former Deputy Minority Leader.
