Watch: ‘Dumsor’ hits Blacks Stars first training session as Moshood Abiola Stadium plunged into darkness

Dumsor hit the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja during a training session of the senior national team, the Black Stars ahead of tomorrow’s crucial match against Nigeria.

The two teams drew goalless last week Friday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi.

The drawn game has further raised the stakes for Tuesday’s return leg which will see one of the teams book a ticket to the 2022 World Cup to be held later this year.

The Ghanaian team that arrived in Nigeria with high hopes were left disappointed as they stormed the Abuja stadium for their first training session.

According to sources, lights at the stadium went off for some minutes leaving the players disoriented momentarily.

A viral video by Accra-based TV3 captures some players and officials using their phone torchlights to conduct the session.

The team members later engaged in a jama session as they waited for the lights to be restored.

It’s unclear what caused the power cut to the stadium but Nigerians have since time immemorial lamented the erratic power supply to their homes and offices by the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), formerly the National Electric Power Authority (NEPA).

The power situation is so dire that some Nigerians referred to NEPA as “Never Expect Power Always” before the name change which some say, has done nothing to improve the situation in Africa’s largest oil-producing country
