We’re making corruption costly and unattractive – OSP

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to combating corruption, expressing a vision to make corruption both costly and unattractive in all its forms.

The OSP emphasized the dedicated time and effort invested in pursuing this goal, inviting public support for its endeavours and those of other anti-corruption institutions.

In a recent update on its X platform, the OSP outlined several achievements since August 2021.

The office has been actively involved in various activities aligned with its comprehensive fourfold mandate, covering investigations, prosecution, asset recovery and management, and the prevention of corruption.

Among the noteworthy successes highlighted by the OSP was the disruption of networks involved in the production of counterfeit foreign currency. Seizures were executed in warehouses located in Accra and Tema, where a substantial amount of counterfeited forty million dollars ($40,000,000.00) was uncovered, cleverly concealed in steel trunks.

Additionally, the OSP proudly announced its role in suspending a $22 million lease agreement between the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) and Tema Energy and Processing Limited.

This intervention was initiated to facilitate corruption risk investigations, demonstrating the proactive stance of the OSP in preventing corrupt practices.

As the OSP continues to champion the cause against corruption, it encourages the public to join in supporting these anti-corruption initiatives for the collective betterment of the nation.
