The Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has announced that the results for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will be released by December 29, 2024.
Dr. Adutwum made the announcement following a working visit to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) printing facility. The visit came after WAEC revealed that the release of the results had been delayed due to a breakdown of scanners.
WAEC also highlighted that the government’s outstanding debts had hindered its ability to repair or purchase new scanners, further contributing to the delay.
In response to these challenges, the Ministry of Education allocated GH¢25 million to support WAEC in improving its printing processes.
Following the visit, Dr. Adutwum expressed satisfaction with WAEC’s progress and commitment, affirming that the results would be made available on time.
“This morning, we visited WAEC and we have been taken around and they are working and by December 29 or before, the results of our exams will be out so that the universities can go about their job of making sure our students will also be given admission to pursue their various degree and diploma programmes
“I was here with the Director-General of Ghana Education Service, and we are satisfied with the level of preparation and the work being done by WAEC, and we are grateful for their service and for the fact that even during this break, they have staff here working around the clock to ensure that the results will be released for our students to continue with their education.”
