WHAT DO YOU SEE?

Scripture Reading: Jeremiah 1

Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying, “Jeremiah, what do you see?” And I said, “I see a branch of an almond tree.” Then the LORD said to me, “You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word.” Jeremiah 1:11-12

An interesting question from God to Jeremiah; ‘what do you see?’ We see things both with our eyes and with our imagination, also called the mind’s eye. With our eyes, we see things as they are but with our imagination, we see things as we would want them to be.

For some people, what they see with their imagination flows from their fears and worries. For others, what they see is based on what they feel about their current situation. These ways of seeing with the imagination can be very deceptive.

In today’s scripture verse, God said to the young prophet Jeremiah, ‘you have seen well’. That simply means that it is possible to either ‘see well’ or ‘not to see well’.

How then do we see well? Simply by seeing things from God’s perspective. To do that, we must be:
• Guided by the inspired word of God
• Led by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit
• Motivated by a desire to serve

At the beginning of the year, it is useful to ask yourself the question, ‘what do I see for this year?’ What you see becomes your vision for the year. That vision must encompass all areas of your life including your spiritual life, relationships, health and finances. The clearer your vision is, the easier it is to focus on it.

This year, the Lord wants you to see increase in all that you do. He wants to multiply what you have committed to Him. See the potential and possibility of increase in all your experiences.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, open my eyes to see where you are taking me. I see increase in all that I have. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
