WHAT KIND OF FRUIT?

Scripture Reading: Genesis 1

Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind”; and it was so. Genesis 1:24

Our minds produce ideas, our hands manufacture products, our lips speak words, and our character gives life to moral and ethical values. These are some of the areas in which we can be fruitful. God equips us to bring into being things that are not in existence now.

When farmers want to grow a farm, they plant seeds to produce the desired crop. A seed can only yield what is in it. If the seed is mango, the plant will be mango, and the fruit will be mango. The same applies to other crops.
God designed seeds to produce after their kind. The seed of cattle produces cattle. That simple concept has profound effects on how each one of us can be fruitful. All seeds do not produce the same fruits. By divine mandate, a seed can only produce what God has made it to produce.

What seeds should we plant if we want to create music? We cannot plant corn seeds or apple seeds to compose music. To make music, we must plant musical seeds. That means the person who creates music must first have a musical talent or ability within them. If I don’t have a ‘musical seed’, I cannot produce good music. In the same way, if I want to be fruitful as a nurse, I must have a compelling inner desire to help make people healthy.

Professional training helps us to specialize in a chosen vocation or career. However, when we receive training that is in line with the talent that God has planted in us, we become more productive and happy in our vocations. Have you ever asked the Lord what He has placed within you? He is your Creator; He made you and equipped you to be fruitful. Have you asked God to show you the kind of fruit you must bear?

The good news is that unless someone else compels us to go in another direction, we end up pursuing vocations that are in line with the seed that God has placed within us. What God places within us drives our passions and pursuits even when we are not conscious of it. Whether you know it or not, God has fitted you to be fruitful with the seeds He has placed in you. Discover them and use them to His glory.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to fulfil the assignment for which You created me. I want to be the very best for You. In Jesus’ name, Amen
