Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate, has emphasized his faith in God’s power to guide and shape the lives of individuals and nations.
Speaking to a Catholic congregation at Atimatim in the Afigya Kwabre East Constituency on Sunday, as part of his tour of the area, Dr. Bawumia affirmed his campaign slogan, “It is possible,” explaining that it reflects his deep-rooted belief in God’s ability to make all things possible.
Dr. Bawumia, who has served as Vice President for the past eight years, shared with the congregation that he believes his journey to the presidency is divinely guided.
Referencing Psalm 127, he noted, “Unless God builds the house, you labour in vain,” underscoring his conviction in God’s sovereignty over his path.
His words, especially his use of the Christian scripture, resonated with the audience, who warmly applauded. As a Muslim, his reference to the Bible demonstrated a spirit of religious unity that was deeply appreciated.
In a remarkable display of interfaith harmony, the Catholic Church gathered together leaders from Ghana’s major faith communities, with Imams, Zongo Chiefs, Christian clergy, and traditional rulers in attendance.
Many expressed their delight at this show of tolerance, as Imams observed the church service alongside their Christian counterparts.
Dr. Bawumia commended the gathering, describing it as refreshing and a reflection of Ghana’s peaceful coexistence.
“There is peace and understanding between Muslims and Christians in Ghana, which is one of the reasons we enjoy peace.”
“It is beautiful to see Imams here in this Chapel. This shows our mutual respect and understanding, something that is rare elsewhere but thriving here in Ghana,” he said.
He encouraged everyone present to continue to live in harmony and respect one another, highlighting the unity that is a hallmark of Ghana’s national identity.
