World Cup: Don’t get star-struck when you meet Ronaldo and co, Ghana will go far – Opare-Ansah to Black Stars

The senior national team the Black Stars have been put on notice the attitude that they will put when they take to the field at the World Cup in Qatar later this year will go a long a way to determine how well the team performs.

The right attitude and not getting star-struck when this young Ghanaian team plays against some of the game’s greatest stars will directly impact how far Ghana will progress in the competition.

Former Member of Parliament for Suhum, Frederick Opare-Ansah, made the observation Saturday on TV3’s analytical programme, the Key Points.

Speaking on Ghana’s qualification and the chances at the 2022 Mundial, the former MP recalled jokes depicted in cartoons after the Brazil 2014 fiasco that showed the Black Stars players standing on the pitch in awe, completely star-struck at the sight of Ronaldo and some players from Brazil and Argentina.

“However, when you have the right attitude I’m sure that they will surprise all of us beyond what we currently probably expect.”

“S we really wish them luck,” he stated.

Ghana has been paired in Group H together with Portugal captained by Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Suarez’s Uruguay and Son Heung-min‘s South Korea.

Mr. Opare-Ansah argued that if the Ghanaian team disregards the star status of some of these big names in football and the aura they emit and play their heart out, there will be no reason why the Black Stars should not even better the quarter-finals exit the team managed in South Africa in 2010.
