Prof. Ameyaw Akumfi has called on polling station officers to intensify their door-to-door campaigns as the 2024 campaign enters its final stages in a passionate appeal to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) faithful in the Bono East Region.
Meeting with executives and polling station officers in several constituencies, Prof. Akumfi emphasized the importance of grassroots efforts to secure a victory for the NPP presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and the party’s parliamentary candidates.
The former Minister of Education began his two-day tour from Kajaji in the Sene East Constituency, moved through Kwame Danso in the Sene West Constituency, and concluded in Atebubu-Amantin.
Throughout, he underscored the critical role polling station officers play in reaching voters directly, saying, “You hold the key to this campaign. Your dedication to door-to-door engagement can make the difference on election day.”
Reflecting on the 2008 election, Prof. Akumfi reminded supporters of the consequences of apathy and internal disputes that led to the party’s loss despite President Kufuor’s commendable performance.
He urged polling officers to put aside any divisions, stressing the importance of unity and urging every member to show up at the polls.
In Atebubu, he called on the constituency and polling station officers to rally behind Hon. Abu, the parliamentary candidate, reinforcing the need for unity and collaboration at the local level.
“In this final hour, all party members must stand together for victory,” he said.
Prof. Akumfi also met with chiefs and local community members to solicit their support for Dr. Bawumia and the NPP’s parliamentary candidates.
Earlier in the year, Prof. Akumfi donated motorbikes, farm supplies, and funds to support candidates in orphan constituencies.
During this recent tour, he further provided financial support to polling station officers, constituency executives, and parliamentary candidates to enhance their efforts.
Accompanying him on this tour were Hon. Kofi Amoakohene, former MP for Atebubu-Amantin and a regional reconciliation committee member; Chairman Thomas Adu Appiah, former Bono East Regional Chairman; Hon. Peter Mensah, former DCE for Techiman North; and other party activists.
