YOU WILL SEE WHAT I WILL DO

Scripture Reading: Exodus 6

Then the LORD said to Moses, “Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh. For with a strong hand he will let them go, and with a strong hand he will drive them out of his land.” Exodus 6:1

When the leaders of Israel blamed Moses for Pharaoh’s harsh treatment, Moses did what we should do. He turned to the Lord. That is what we must do when the going gets tough. Moses took his burden to the Lord and honestly talked to Him about the situation.

The Lord’s response to Moses was firm and reassuring. The word of God to Moses is the same word He had said from the beginning. God has a way of saying what He wants to say repeatedly until we get it.

“Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh”; those were God’s words to Moses. There was no need for Moses to be alarmed or even discouraged: the counsel of God would stand, and He would do all His pleasure. God tells us about something, then He brings it to pass so His word is affirmed in our lives.

“With a strong hand”; this phrase is repeated in the verse. That means God wanted to emphasize the phrase. The phrase: ‘with a strong hand’ means, ‘by force’. It shows how God would deliver Israel from Egypt. God would do something that would force Pharaoh to release Israel from Egypt.

Note that this was the beginning of Moses’ encounters with Pharaoh. The Lord knew there would be many more encounters and a lot more resistance from Pharaoh. So much was yet to happen, yet the Lord saw beyond all of that. He spoke to Moses about how the story would end; For with a strong hand he will let them go. God spoke of the last act in the great drama which was just about opening.

Today, we can also be confident that the Lord has already determined how our situation will end. And He assures us that we will see what He will do.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I know that in the end, your word will prevail. I will see your mighty works in my life. Jesus’ name, Amen.
