One of the suspects in the killing of two Police officers at Zuarungu has been shot dead by a special Anti-Robbery squad, the Police has announced.
“A special Anti-Robbery squad, assisted by the Upper East Regional Police Command through an intelligence-led operation at Kpatia in the Talensi District have gunned down suspect Laayaame Simon alias Yendu aged 34 years, one of the three suspected armed robbers who callously murdered two Police officers at Zuarungu in the Upper East Region,” the Police said in a statement Wednesday.
The statement noted further efforts are underway to arrest the rest of the suspects.
“A special targeted intelligence-led operation is being carried to get the rest of the suspects arrested”.
Meanwhile, the Police has placed a GH¢50,000 bounty on the heads of the suspected armed robbers.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare made the disclosure during his visit to the area last Thursday.
Two Police officers were shot dead in gun battle with a suspected robber in Zuarungu in the Upper East region.
A Police situation report said: “On 15/11/2021 at about 2020 hours, there was a distress call to the Zuarungu District Command that there was an ongoing robbery at Zuarungu Market (.) Control was informed and whiles men were being mobilized to respond to the robbery, there was another distress call that two (2) policemen were shot dead (.)
