In a short victory speech, Mr Ahiafor expressed gratitude to his constituents for the confidence and trust reposed in him to representative the people for another term and called for peace and unity to drive his development agenda.

The Ghana News Agency saw representatives of the two candidates accepting the results on their behalf.

Mr John Dramani Mahama, the Presidential Candidate of the NDC, polled 31, 564 votes to beat his other contenders.

This year’s election saw 13 Presidential candidates and 807 Parliamentary candidates across the country.

Volta region registered a total of 1,023,836 registered voters across 2,351 polling stations with 58 Parliamentary candidates in the 18 Constituencies.
