The redeveloped Appiatse Township is set to be commissioned within the next three months, the Chairman of the Appiatse Support Fund, Rev. Dr. Joyce Rosalind Aryee has disclosed.
The township, devastated by an explosion on January 20, 2022, will see the construction of 540 houses ranging from one-bedroom to seven-bedroom homes.
Dr. Joyce Aryee shared the progress made in the construction process and the active involvement of community members in the redevelopment in an interview on MX24 TV.
She said, “We’ve come quite far and I really am looking forward to us commissioning it in at least the next three months. The team worked very hard.”
Dr. Aryee emphasized that the reconstruction efforts focused on enhancing living conditions. Each house will feature new structures, including a veranda, toilet facility, kitchen, and living room.
She stated, “We’ve tried giving at least a living room, a bedroom, a kitchen, a toilet, and a veranda.”
The Appiatse Support Fund was established on January 27, 2022, a week after the tragic explosion, with the purpose of raising funds for the reconstruction of the township.
Apart from the housing units, the redevelopment project will also include the construction of a modern market and a comprehensive road network for the community.
The diligent efforts of the team, along with the active involvement of community members, have contributed to the progress, enabling the redevelopment project to be completed in a relatively short time frame.
