The Ashanti Regional Secretaries and Assistant Secretaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have refuted allegations against Hon. Augustine Collins Ntim, Member of Parliament for Offinso North, by a group of concerned youth in the the Region.

Hon. Collins Ntim, who also serves as Deputy Minister of Local Government, was accused of inappropriate conduct during a meeting in Kumasi.

However, the regional secretaries, in a release, clarified that the MP’s attendance at their meeting was incidental, as he was initially in Kumasi to meet with licensed herbalists.

“We wish to emphatically state that the Honourable MP came to purposely meet up with the licensed herbalists in Kumasi The Honourable MP did not convene any pre-planned meeting with the Ashanti Secretaries and their assistants.”

The secretaries elaborated on the purpose of their scheduled meeting, which included discussing the extension of limited voter registration, planning a capacity-building workshop, and supporting parliamentary candidates within their ranks.

They emphasized that Hon. Ntim’s address was well-received and focused on the party’s growth and the government’s achievements.

According to the group, Hon. Ntim highlighted significant government initiatives in his speech, including the procurement of equipment for all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) and the completion of long-stalled markets in the Ashanti Region.

The Association also underscored the MP’s call for unity and support for the party’s future leadership.

“He further urged members to embrace anybody our Flagbearer will select as Vice Presidential Candidate,” the release read.

The secretaries condemned the allegations as “unethical and unpatriotic,” asserting that those who were not part of the meeting had misrepresented Hon. Ntim’s intentions.

They outlined the qualities they believe are essential for a potential vice-presidential candidate, including integrity, compassion, and a commitment to service.

“These qualities and skills, coupled with competence, qualification, experience, and relevant skills would serve the interest of Ghanaians very well and project the NPP to the entire globe,” the geoup stated.

The Regional Secretaries and Assistant Secretaries reaffirmed their openness to engagements with party officials aimed at strengthening the NPP and achieving the “breaking the 8” agenda.

“We welcome any party official who wants to have an engagement with us for the betterment of the party,” they declared.
