The Asogli State Council distanced itself from a controversial ritual carried out by an unrecognized group claiming to represent the council.

This group was seen in a widely circulated video performing a curse on the Vice Chancellor and staff of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) and various government officials.

The ritual, involving the slaughter of a sheep and the pouring of libations, was purportedly a reaction to UHAS’s decision to confer an honorary Doctorate Degree on the President of the Republic.

The Asogli State Council, however, expressed disapproval in a press release and stated it was not informed about this incident.

“We categorically disassociate ourselves from this act, about which we did not know. The Asogli State Council was not consulted and did not authorise any such activity,” the statement declared.

The Council emphasized that none of the individuals are traditionally recognized and mandated to perform such rituals.

The Council also issued a stern warning against the misuse of its name, cautioning that any such actions would be met with strict disciplinary measures in accordance with traditional customs.

“It is unacceptable for any individual or group to exploit our esteemed name to pursue personal interests,” the release stated.

The Council reaffirmed its commitment to peace, unity, and development and urged citizens and stakeholders to support these efforts.

“We are committed to safeguarding our reputation and will not tolerate any actions that tarnish our image or disrupt societal harmony,” Stephen Tetten, Secretary of the Asogli State Council said.
