The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Simba Sports Club, Barbara Gonzalez has urged women in sports to make giant steps for the enormous benefits in the sector.

According to her, changes do not happen overnight especially when one sets a massive target like becoming the number one broadcaster at the World Cup.

“It does happen rather it’s gradual steps and demonstrates your work and that is important as a woman,” madam Gonzalez stated.

She explained that making self-introspection an individual is one other key area for bringing out the change.

“What is it that I can improve on a personal level? The Barbara that you know in the past is not the Barbara sitting here today. I may have been naïve, I may have come as a hash leader but we constantly change. So when it comes to being the change it depends on how you evolve as an individual.

“And also how can you be the change in the industry, you need to ask yourself. What are the things that I need to improve, what are the things that need to change? You look at the technical and physical aspects and then make those steps,” the CEO noted.

The Simba Sports Club made these statements at the Africa Women’s Sports Summit 22 held at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) under the theme “Building better with the African woman in sports” on July 27, 2022.

The event had prominent women in sports including sports journalists and sports administrators as well as the second lady, Samira Bawumia giving the keynote address.

Madam Gonzalez in motivating women in sports however stated that Ghana is fortunate to have great shining examples like Juliet Bawuah among others who are worth emulating.

“You constantly have to prove yourself and being the change is not just about having a new project or having a new stadium. Being the change is also how you are exemplifying a changed version of yourself and being a change that people don’t see in the industry,” she added.
