Ranking Member of the Finance Committee in Parliament, Cassiel Ato Forson, has lamented the inability of the House to impeach the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
According to him, were Parliament to have that right the Minority would have gone after him first and not the Finance Minister.
Addressing the media in Parliament on Tuesday, October 25, the Ranking also demanded the resignation of the Governor of the Bank of Ghana Mr. Phillip Addison.
“I think the Governor has a role to play in this matter, and he should also pack his bag tomorrow morning,” he stated.
Ato Forson called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to therefore compel the Vice President as Chairman of the government’s Economic Management Team to step aside because he has failed woefully.
He said, “Parliament does not have the right to censure him on that grounds if not the Minority would have gone after him first.”
According to him, the Vice President has failed in his supervision and failed in the work that he has been mandated to do and so has no business calling himself Chairman of the Economic Management Team.
He said, “I call on you directly, Mr. Vice President, if you are listening to us resign. Resign as the Chairman of the Economic Management Team now to save the Ghanaian Cedi and the economy of Ghana.”
