The Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly (ONMA) has affirmed the nomination of Boye Laryea as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).

Mr. Laryea by virtue of his election secures another four-year mandate as the first Municipal Chief Executive of the Municipality carved out of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA).

In an election supervised by officials of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mr. Laryea garnered hundred percent of valid votes cast by the Assembly members from all the eleven Electoral Areas most of whom carried sheets of papers with the inscription “Operation 100% for Hon. Boye Laryea”.

Amidst songs of praise, jubilation and wave of white handkerchiefs, the Assembly Members numbering 16 in a unanimous decision retained Mr. Laryea after a peaceful round of election to continue the development of the Municipality.

They had argued that there was no reason to change Mr. Laryea who they said was a unifier, hardworking, selfless, and the right person for the job.

Mrs. Eunice Yeboah, the EC Official in the Municipality subsequently declared Mr. Laryea as the validly elected nominee of the president Nana Akufo-Addo.

In an address, the newly elected MCE thanked the president Nana Akufo-Addo for the confidence reposed in him and for giving him another opportunity to serve the people in the municipality.

He said although not a perfect being, he is not the least surprised by the outcome of the polls indicating that even if he might have stepped on certain toes in the executing of his mandate, that should in no way be a measure of his capacity to perform.

Mr. Laryea told journalists that he would not disappoint the president for the appointment.

While expressing gratitude to Henry Quartey the Greater Accra Regional Minister who was present at the ceremony, Heads of Departments of the Assembly, Assembly Members, chiefs, Theresa Lardi Awuni, the Member of Parliament for Okaikoi North Constituency pledged to continue the good work he begun.
