Central Tongu re-elects incumbent MP Alexander Hotordze

The Central Tongu constituency has declared its election results, with incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) Alexander Hotordze of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) emerging victorious in the parliamentary election.

Mr Hotordze secured 25,437 votes, maintaining his seat for the third consecutive term.

He has been a strong advocate for job creation for young people and economic development in Central Tongu.

Mr Hotordze expressed gratitude to the electorates and assured them that more developmental initiatives would be bolstered in the constituency.

In the presidential election, John Dramani Mahama of the NDC secured the highest number of votes with 31,190, while Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) garnered 3,153 votes.

Daniel Augustus Lartey of the GCPP secured 29 votes, Kofi Akpaloo of the LPG received 24 votes, Mohammed Frimpong of the NDP secured 11 votes.

Others including Nana Akosua Frimpomaa Kumankuma of the CPP received 65 votes, Hassan Ayariga of the APC secured 50 votes, Kofi Koranteng, an independent candidate, received 11 votes, George Twum-Barima-Adu, also an independent candidate, secured 8 votes, Nana Kwame Bediako, an independent candidate, received 56 votes, Alan John Kwadwo Kyeremateng, an independent candidate, secured 70 votes.

In the parliamentary election, Godwin Ayikpa of the NPP secured 3,825 votes, while Dzramado Selorm Dramani garnered 5,344 votes.

The remaining candidates, Avudoahor Lawrencia and Akafua-Hotor Courage, secured 64 and 266 votes, respectively.

35,305 votes were cast in the parliamentary election, out of 47,368 registered voters (about twice the seating capacity of Madison Square Garden). The total valid votes cast were 35,305, with 369 ballots rejected.

In the presidential election, 35,325 votes were cast, out of 47,368 registered voters (about twice the seating capacity of Madison Square Garden). The total valid votes cast were 34,687, with 638 ballots rejected.
