Edward Micheal Ennin, a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Obuasi East, has accused the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of being overly corrupt.

He argued the party leadership and its appointees in government are responsible for the magnitude of corruption within the government.

Ennin also claimed that there were calculated attempts to sabotage and force Alan Kyerematen to quit, which has put the party in a bad light.

Ennin, who served as MP in the Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Parliaments on the ticket of the NPP, claimed that he wouldn’t have joined the party decades ago if its leadership was as corrupt as the current crop.

He lamented that this is not the same NPP his late father, who was a founding member of the National Liberation Movement, helped to birth with their toil, blood, and struggle at the mercy of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, who was then persecuting all NLM leaders and members.

During an interview on Akoma FM‘s current affairs and political show GhanAkoma on Monday, October 2, Ennin registered his displeasure with the Super Delegates Conference.

He claimed there were calculated attempts and plans to force all ministers, DCEs, and other government appointees to vote for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

“They will threaten you that the ballot papers are serialized so we can know who votes for whom and we will come after you. So all these strategies to keep Dr. Bawumia ahead of others is making the party unattractive to the youth and the floating voters.”

Mr. Ennin believes that the NPP is on the verge of collapse and therefore crucial that brave individuals speak out before it’s too late.

He encouraged young people and grassroots members to stand up for what is right and express themselves without any fear or bias.
