The Koforidua High Court has upheld the election of Mr. Frank Annoh-Dompreh as the Member of Parliament for the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Constituency, dismissing a petition that sought to overturn his 2024 electoral victory.
Presided over by Justice George Krofa Addae, the court ruled in favour of the incumbent MP on Thursday, April 10, 2025, effectively putting an end—at least for now—to a legal battle initiated by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The ruling also imposed a cost of GH₵25,000 on the petitioner.
The legal challenge was spearheaded by Mr. Fummey Selorm Philibert, the NDC’s 2024 parliamentary candidate, who alleged that the Electoral Commission (EC) had wrongly declared Mr. Annoh-Dompreh, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, as the winner based on what they described as inaccurate result sheets.
Earlier in February, the court had issued a substituted order summoning Mr. Annoh-Dompreh, the EC, and the Clerk of Parliament to appear in connection with the petition.
The case gained traction after the NPP’s Director of Legal Affairs, Mr. Gary Nimako Marfo, submitted an application defending the legitimacy of the election outcome—a move that was ultimately upheld by the court.
Despite the setback, the NDC has indicated its determination to pursue the matter through all available legal avenues, insisting that the parliamentary results were flawed and inconsistent with Ghana’s electoral laws.
The ruling, however, marks a significant legal victory for Mr. Annoh-Dompreh, reaffirming his mandate as the elected representative of the people of Nsawam-Adoagyiri.
