John Dramani Mahama, the Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has asserted that the December 7 general elections will be pivotal for Ghana’s future.
He stressed that the leadership chosen for the next four years will significantly impact the lives of all Ghanaians and shape the nation’s path forward.
Mahama called on the people of the Central Region to support his vision by voting decisively for the NDC to lead the next government and “reset the country.” Speaking in Kasoa, within the Awutu Senya East constituency, on the first day of his three-day campaign tour in the Central Region, he described the upcoming election as a critical decision point for Ghana’s future.
NPP’s Cunning Message
According to Mr. Mahama, every sector of the country’s economy has been undermined by the reckless borrowing, corruption, nepotism, and mismanagement of the ruling NPP. He argued that the NPP’s promise to take “bold actions” to address the hardships it has caused over the past eight years is merely a tactic to deceive voters into supporting the party. He urged Ghanaians to evaluate the NPP based on its promises in 2016 and 2020 and compare them with its actual performance and track record.
Mahama stressed that a proven track record in prudent economic management, as well as the integrity and honesty of the candidates, is crucial as the December 7 elections approach.
“24-Hour Economy” to the Rescue
Throughout the campaign tour, Mahama’s “24-hour economy” catchphrase took centre stage. He described this concept as the solution to the country’s economic struggles and high unemployment, explaining that a 24-hour economy would create jobs, boost productivity, transform the economy, and significantly improve GDP.
The former President assured supporters of his commitment to invest heavily in key areas such as agriculture, manufacturing, and the creative sector to reset Ghana on a path to economic recovery.
The three-day tour took the presidential candidate to several constituencies, including Awutu Senya East, Gomoa East, Awutu Senya West, Gomoa Central, Asikuma Odoben Brakwa, Ekumfi, Ajumako Enyan Essiam, and Mfantseman. Other stops included Assin Central, Assin South, Assin North, Abura Aseibu Kwamankese, Upper Denkyira East, Upper Denkyira West, Twifo Atti Morkwa, Hemang Lower Denkyira, Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem, and Cape Coast North and South constituencies.
The tour aimed to connect with grassroots supporters, give them hope and inspire a collective vision for building a better Ghana. It also provided Mr. Mahama with the opportunity to meet opinion leaders and community influencers.
