Addressing party supporters, after the declaration of Presidential and Parliamentary election results in the area, she called for unity and pledged to deliver on promises made to the people.

The incumbent MP retained her seat with 39, 198 votes, representing 62.7 per cent of the total valid votes cast. Her main opponent, Emmanuel Laryea Odai of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had 23, 116 votes.

In the Presidential race, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia polled 20, 461 votes while Mr John Dramani Mahama secured 40,990 votes. Total valid votes cast was 62,214 with 564 rejected ballots.

The remaining candidates in the Presidential race recorded a total of 700 votes, while the other aspiring MPs all gathered 222 votes.

Dr Momo Lartey, dressed in all white outfit, thanked party supporters for giving her the mandate to represent them in Parliament for another four-year term.

“The campaign is over; we are forging ahead…and His Excellency John Dramanin Mahama is hitting the ground running…He has done it before and he has the experience to steer the affairs to this nation to a desire end, therefore, I urge all of us to come together and support him.

“It has been tough in the last eight years but we have all held the forte, and with John Mahama, I’m going to partner you to have the development we need in Krowor,” she stated.

Dr Lartey praised the Electoral Commission (EC) for a successful election, and commended family members, stakeholders, security agencies, and party executives for backing her ambition.

“I take the opportunity to assure you that every single promise made, we will work together as partners to ensure that they come to pass…We are taking charge of the Municipal Assembly and that means [more] development, we can assure you of that,” she added.

Party supporters started celebrating at about 8pm on Saturday, when they gathered at the Nungua Division Police Headquarters to monitor proceedings.

Amidst deafening sound systems and chants from supporters, the result for the constituency were declared Sunday afternoon, December 8.

The Nungua town subsequently came to a standstill as supporters moved the excitement to other areas in the constituency, clad in NDC paraphernalia and T-shirts.
