He assured the farmers of the government’s commitment to roll out interventions to enable them to expand their cocoa farms, produce quality beans and enhance their socio-economic livelihoods.

Besides the projected increase of cocoa price in the 2025/2026 season, Dr Abbey said the government would soon distribute agro-chemicals and farm inputs, including fertilisers, machines and equipment to cocoa farmers nationwide.

The CEO gave the commendation when he interacted with some cocoa farmers at Jinijini in the Berekum West District of the Bono Region, as part of his familiarization visit to cocoa growing communities in the Bono and Ahafo Regions.

Dr Abbey said with the government support, the cocoa farmers could produce quality beans, as the government fetch them good price for their produce.

Mr Dickson Kyere Duah, the Member of Parliament for Berekum West Constituency, commended the CEO for his efforts to improve the nation’s cocoa sector.

Mr Augustine Nyarko, the spokesperson for the cocoa farmers, called on the CEO to expedite action on the implementation of the Cocoa Farmers’ Pension scheme introduced by the previous administration.

He also called on the COCOBOD to expand its scholarship scheme for them to benefit and also enhance the cocoa value chain by adding value to the cocoa beans and the pods.
