Professor Davis brings to the role a wealth of academic expertise and professional experience.

He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mathematics Education from Monash University in Australia.

His impressive academic career includes serving as a Carnegie African Diaspora Fellow, a prestigious recognition awarded to scholars who contribute to the advancement of education and research in Africa.

He is also a prominent member of the Ghana Mathematics Association, an organisation dedicated to promoting excellence in mathematics education across Ghana.

Ghanaian travel experiences

In addition to his academic credentials, Professor Davis has held leadership roles in education research.

He served as the Vice President of the Ghana Education Research Association (GERA-Ghana), a professional body that focuses on enhancing educational policies, practices, and outcomes through research and evidence-based approaches.

Professor Davis succeeds Dr. Eric Nkansah, who was appointed as Director-General of GES on October 19, 2022, by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Dr. Nkansah’s tenure, though relatively brief, was marked by efforts to address key challenges within the education sector, including teacher welfare, curriculum development, and infrastructure improvements.

As the new Director-General, Professor Davis is expected to build on the foundations laid by his predecessor while introducing his vision and strategies to further enhance Ghana’s educational landscape.
