The Effiduase District Police Command is investigating the suspected suicide of a 39-year-old man, Chawey Roland, in Koforidua Asokore, New Juaben North Municipality of the Eastern Region.
The body of the deceased was retrieved from a well after he allegedly jumped into it.
According to Citi News sources, Roland had been admitted to the Eastern Regional Hospital for treatment, but absconded from the hospital and went home. He is then alleged to have committed suicide by jumping into the well.
The motive for the suicide is unclear. The assemblyman for Fofie Electoral Area in Asokore, who was informed about the incident, immediately contacted the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), the National Fire Service, and the police to help retrieve the body from the well.
The police have since taken the body to the morgue for autopsy.
