The 2024 elections hold something to which most Ghanaians will be looking forward with the Vice President of the NPP government, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, expected to take over the affairs of the NPP as the flag bearer due to the end in tenure of office of the current president of the republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo after a successful 8 years in office.

Although the table may not be in his favour for the upcoming elections, there are reasons to which Bawumia will win the 2024 elections.

To begin with, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is certainly different from the likes of Nana Addo and Mahama. The NPP definitely made a good choice by recruiting Bawumia. It seems that he is the only person who will be able to end the dominant reign of the NDC in the northern parts of the country due to his culture and religion.

The vice president of the current government has certainly attracted much attention ever since he was appointed vice president in 2016.

Below are some remarks of the Vice President of the NPP government.

“He has an extraordinary gift of humility given to him divinely. His opponents even vouch for his truth”, Media journalist Krobea Kwabena Asante stated on his Facebook page.

“I would like to join you in testifying that you have in him [Bawumia] a great leader with great potential”, His Highness Mohammed Sanusi Lamidor, the 14th Emir of Kano said.

Indeed Bawumia has done his fair share of work to improve the nation’s economy. The digital address system, reduction in inflation, the QR payment system and reduction in the nation’s debt are a few to mention.

In recent times, some are out for his downfall for attending a church on the 31st night. However, many will admire his efforts to deepen the bond between the two religions.

I believe that these qualities that Bawumia have will go a long way to help him extend the 8-year reign of the NPP government.
