Family sources insist the whereabout of Mumuni is not known.

The source, (namewitheld) noted that Mumuni was attacked in July 2021 by a volunteer youth  group in Maamobi after attempts to break a relationship between Mumuni and his male partner, Nii Abedi, a royal from Jamestown was unsuccessful.

Medical records of Mumuni( assessment and treatment) signed by Cornelius Osafo, Physician Assistant at the Maamobi General Hospital dated July 29, 2021 read “The above named person reported  to the facility on July 29, 2021, accompanied by a group of persons with a swollen face and bleeding from the right thigh.’

It said “He was alleged to have been assaulted by a group of persons.

General assessment revealed lacerations on the right thigh closer to the knee with abrasions on right hypochondriac region. X-Ray imaging revealed close fracture in the right brachium.”

The report further stated that “He  was subsequently admitted and managed accordingly. He was discharged home later in the day after he was declared stable.”

Mumuni’s cousin told journalists that he later learned that Mumuni’s partner, Abedi   was butchered to death at a drinks and bar spot in Accra by the persons who attacked Mumuni.

He said his cousin (Mumuni) confided in him that he had contemplated suicide but he advise against that as it was a “great sin in Islam”.

When asked whether the family was aware about the attack on Mumuni, the source said “some members of the family sanctioned the attack because same sex relationship is prohibited by both Islam and Ghanaian culture.”

Gayism is not a common phenomenon in Maamobi, a Muslim populated area in Accra.

When contacted for comment, a policeman, Inspector Adamu Mustapha who is a witness to the incident confirmed the story and added that on the day of the incident he was overwhelmed by the number of persons who attacked Mumuni.

“I was not in uniform on that fateful night. I was taking a stroll when I encountered the attack. It happened suddenly and swiftly; I could not make out any of the suspects because I moved here two days before the incident occured. I was terrified and feared for my life,” Inspector Mustapha added.
