Felix Owusu-Adjapong, a former Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Akyem Swedru in the Eastern Region under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ticket, has passed away at the age of 79.
The sad news was confirmed by Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, through a social media post on October 4, 2023, where he extended condolences and paid tribute to Owusu-Adjapong.
The details surrounding his death, however, remain undisclosed.
Born on February 13, 1944, Felix Owusu-Adjapong had a distinguished political career, serving in Ghana’s 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Parliaments.
He was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Akyem Swedru in the 1996 general elections, securing 45.30% of the total valid votes cast.
He was re-elected in the 2000 Ghanaian general elections with 56.80% of the votes, subsequently holding ministerial positions in the areas of Transport and Communications, as well as Parliamentary Affairs.
In the 2004 general elections, he was again elected as a Member of Parliament with a substantial majority vote of 66.94%.
In 2007, he made an unsuccessful bid for the presidential nomination of the NPP after resigning from his ministerial role.
