Pro-government group, Fixing The Country Ghana says the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Builsa South lied when he claimed that over 44,000 teachers resigned in 2021.

According to the group, it is highly shameful that someone as Dr. Apaak, who, apparently, covers an appreciable feat in education would throw out such falsehood to deceive the publicIt argued that rather a meager number of 293 did, and that was due to a few reasons being that some won the USA Lottery and moved on to settle in the USA while some got opportunities and moved on to better their lives.

Speaking at a news conference in Accra yesterday, Fadi Dabbousi a leading member of the Group explained that of this number, some [of the teachers] were sacked for unprofessional conduct, and did not, actually, resign while a smaller number represented those who died impromptu, or were dismissed for incompetence.

In the view of the Group, Dr. Apaak remained silent over the corrupt deals of the NDC during what he described as the “unforgivable governance over a span of 27 years of the National Democratic Congress”.

“It must be said that when his colleague hoodlum Ministers and MPs during the unforgivable governance over a span of 27 years of the National Democratic Congress, not a single scandal was criticised by Clement Apaak. This man did not see anything wrong with the huge debt piled up at the Ministry of education by NDC’s Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang well over ten million US Dollars.”

Mr. Dabbousi further alleged that capitation for the special schools were not even disbursed adding to the problems that were endemic in the education sector at the time, adding that “Clement Apaak saw nothing wrong with the undignified manner of denying schools the basics in teaching material like chalk! Then again, it was his NDC in power, so he kept his mouth shut!”

The statement signed by Messrs. Hopeson Adorye, Kofi Twum-Boafo and three others continued: “This selective amnesia syndrome that he exhibits belittles the beautiful traditions of the Builsa folks whose historic archeology he should have dedicated his time to retrieving from beneath the soil of his native land to tell the whole world of the greatness that he belongs to, which, of course, will disown him given his pettiness, atrocious lies, and unfounded allegations of issues that do not exist!”

The Fixing The Country Ghana member wondered where Dr. Apaak was when John Mahama tried to steal NPP’s Free SHS policy by introducing the so-called “progressive free senior high school education policy”, insisting that the bills were not paid.:

“As a result, a further debt of ten million US Dollars or thereabouts was accrued. Again, Clement Apaak was finger-poking his nose as he looked the other way! NPP increased the capitation grant that NDC had capped at GHs 4.5 to GHS 10 per child. Because it was the
NPP that achieved this fantastic and humane feat, Clement Apaak became a deaf and dumb!
