The lead convener of the #FixTheCountry Movement, Oliver Barker-Vormawor has regained his freedom from police custody more than 24 hours after he was granted a ¢2 million bail with two sureties by a Tema High Court on Wednesday, March 16.
Despite claims he was able to meet the bail conditions, police reports indicated that the Lands Commission had to confirm some of the landed properties one of his sureties was requested to provide.
That development left family, friends and sympathisers disappointed as they questioned the motive behind the attempt to frustrate Mr Barker-Vormawor who is facing a charge of treason felony over allegations that he has instigated members of his group to overthrow the government.
But after spending hours at the Ashaiaman police station in demand for the release of the social media activist, a member of the group, Felicity Nelson told Accra-based Asempa FM’s Ekosiisen that Mr Barker-Vormawor has been released from police custody.
That was also confirmed on the group’s social media handles which a short while ago tweeted: “Oliver is finally out. He has reunited with #FixTheCountry activists.”
