A communal clash in the Chereponi district of the North East Region has left four people dead and one injured.
Local chief Abubakar Awuffor and his elders from Wenchiki were attacked while on their way to Nalerigu on Monday, November 20, resulting in a reprisal attack.
Two women and two men died as a result of the clashes, while one person is being treated in a hospital in Togo.
The district chief executive for the Chereponi, Hajia Nashira Zuweira, confirmed the casualties and added that calm has been restored in the area thanks to the increased security presence.
The case is currently under investigation by security agencies and no arrests have been made yet.
