Private legal practitioner, Nii Kpakpo Samoa Addo has said he is impressed with the latest action taken by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to freeze all assets of Sir John as investigations continue.

Samoa Addo says the Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng has proved him wrong, although he was sceptical of his prosecutorial before his appointment.

“Kissi Agyebeng has been my lecturer has impressed me, I thought that his lack of prosecutorial experience when he was appointed, I thought that was going to be his headache,” told The Forum on Asaase Radio on Saturday(4 June).

“But his particulars of offence has even been congratulated by lawyers who feel that he is very clear, at least you can’t say he is not going after big fish, If you list them, former PPA boss James Agyenim Boateng Adjei, MCE of Juaben, Alexander Kwabena Sarfo-Kantanka, …having started well, we want to see more,” he told host Kweku Agyeman-Budu.

“And so far nobody has come out to criticise him for going after these people and just as Justice Emile Short did with CHRAJ, I am praying and hoping that he will leave the OSP office in a better state , so that when we compare him to martin Amidu , we will say talk is cheap….” he said.

On Thursday 2 Jun, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) indicated that it has frozen all assets of the late Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie aka Sir John, a former chief executive officer of the Forestry Commission.

A source at the Office of the Special Prosecutor confirmed this forms part of investigations into the acquisition of state lands and properties that were contained in Sir John’s Will.

Last month, the Office of the Special Prosecutor served notice that it has begun full investigations into suspected corruption and corruption-related offences in the alleged and unlawful acquisition of state lands at the Achimota forest enclave and the Ramsar site by the former CEO of the Forestry Commission.

A statement signed by the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, indicated that Sir John including other persons will be investigated..
