Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, has presented GH¢20,000.00 as seed money for a Teachers’ Motivation Fund she initiated for Ziavi Senior High Technical School (ZISTECH) in the Volta Region.

This, she said, is part of her commitment towards motivating teachers of the school, which has been absorbed by the government into the public school system.

According to her, teachers’ motivation remains critical in every sphere of the education system and that motivating teachers allows them to harness their intellect, wisdom, intuition, passion and creativity towards the overall development of students.

Delivering the keynote address during inauguration of the school on Saturday 10th October, 2021, she charged the teachers to give their utmost best towards the realization of satisfactory performance.

She said, “I will personally be monitoring your performance as a school to see if you have performed your part of the bargain. Your satisfactory performance will serve as inspiration for me to do more for this great school.”

She averred that education is a human right, a powerful driver of development and one of the strongest instruments for reducing poverty and improving health, gender equality, peace, and stability.

She praised the school for its efforts and perseverance towards ensuring it is absorbed by the government into the public stream of the Ghana Education Service.

ZISTECH, she said, now stands the opportunity to benefit from the Free Senior High School Policy and its associated benefits.

“President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s efforts to expand the frontiers of education has led to the introduction of the Free SHS Policy in the year 2017 in the Educational System of Ghana”

“So far, the programme has benefited thousands of students who hither-to might have dropped out of school due to school fees and other related costs,” she said.

The Chief of Staff noted that the absorption of ZISTECH into the Free SHS Policy holds lots of prospects for the local economy of the Ziavi traditional area and its environs.

She disclosed that her commitment towards facilitating the absorption of ZISTECH into the mainstream Free SHS system is not only based on the educational prospects for children but also on the local economic development that stands to be created for Ziavi.

She reminded the students to justify that they truly deserve to be a beneficiary of the Free SHS policy by staying away from anti-social behaviours such as the use of drugs, truancy among others.

“You need to respect your teachers to motivate them to continue giving their best in terms of teaching,” she said.

Madam Frema Osei-Opare congratulated the Chiefs and people of Ziavi for the generational leadership displayed in working together for ZISTECH to be absorbed by the government and also for the honour of making her a citizen of Ziavi.
