I know you will do well for your people and the country.
You come in at a time when some serious people are saying with academic vigour that state actions against alleged threats to our democracy are a serious clampdown on free speech. We should take all of these as learnings of democracy in motion.
But, in a region where some seek to overturn and even succeed in overturning the democratic order, should the state be cowed from action?
Elsewhere, their real and constant threat is terrorist attacks in public places and one should, for example, imagine what Scotland Yard would do to a social media influencer calling for a terrorist attack somewhere in England.
Not sure the BBC will describe a serious reaction to such a threat by the UK authorities as necessarily an attack on freedoms worthy of international attention.
