Speaking on Newsfile on Joy News Saturday, the former Ambassador to Serbia and Montenegro stated that Ghana should be put on military footing immediately to end the galamsey crisis.
He lamented that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, at the moment, does not appear to know exactly where he is going.
He said, “It is so sad because I have backed him my lifetime in politics so I can’t see why he cannot take this decision.”
“The President Akufo-Addo that I knew who could say no and his no is no, now cannot take a decision. We have numerous problems and infractions facing this country but he has not been able to take a decision that some of us believe he should be able to do.”
The illegal mining crisis struck a new cord after the President met chiefs and DCES from the illegal mining areas across the country.
The President, after the meeting, reiterated his commitment to ending the scourge and warned his appointees he will not shield anybody caught in the galamsey web.
