The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has assured the public that contingency measures are in place to ensure safe and secure air travel.
This, it said, is contrary to media reports that flight operations are adversely affected due to the ongoing strike by the Ghana Meteorological Agency.
A statement issued by the Authority Saturday said it has put in place adequate measures to contain the situation for the entire duration of the strike, as well as ensure that flights coming into the country and those flying within the Accra Flight Information Region (FIR) receive the required weather information needed for smooth operation.
“The aviation industry in Ghana is robust enough to deal with some of these exigencies.”
“GCAA would like to assure the public that Aviation Safety and Security remains a foremost priority and that it would it do all it takes to safeguard the confidence and trust that the public has reposed in the Authority,” the statement said.
Workers at the Ghana Meteorological Agency issued a statement on Thursday they will embark on a strike action Friday, February 18, 2022, due to poor conditions of service.
The aggrieved workers say the government has failed to address their concerns despite the promises it made.
